We have a few announcements:
1A Board of Directors has been formed to oversee the Net and its operations. The members of the Board are Lynn KV7L, Jon KB6TAZ, W6IO Dar and Wayne KK7TT
2The Noontime Net is moving from our current operating frequency of 7283.5 to 7284. This move will allow some operators that have restored older marine commercial or military equipment that can only tune in 1khz steps, be able to check in. This also moves us .5 khz further away from another Net.
3The Noontime Net will no longer call specifically for QRP stations. They can check in at any time like everyone else. The main reason for this change is that many of the regulars check in as a QRP so they don’t have to wait for the normal check in time. This results in long delays of up to 30 minutes for everyone else to check in. The Net will still ask for early check ins from mobile and portable stations.

It created a strong attenuation of the shortwave radio bands, especially on 40 m, in advance of the quake. In North America the popular 40 m net on 7.2835 MHz was severely disrupted. The RF-Seismograph recorded the eminent quake more than 1 h earlier at 16:30 UTC! The ionosphere is still very weak, but it is recovering now.
